Can I get some cheese?

Yours truly decided that the very -best- way to spend the weekend would be to be as productive as possible.

I got this craving for BLT’s, so Tetris dragged me to Wal-Mart (*twitch*) to hunt down an electric skillet. Why? He wanted one. Why Wal-Mart? I think he likes to watch me twitch and cringe. Upon walking out, the normally polite and reserved man turns to me and says, “Well, now that we’ve left there are maybe two whole teeth in that store.” Yes, thanks for making me go. *hmph*

After BLTs, we rented a truck and took a trip to IKEA (zomg I love IKEA!!!11!!11one!!) and got Zach a new loft bed. Of course, this was the EXACT same loft bed I bought for him two years ago that he gave away one year ago. Bah. Also picked up a cute little couch and chair to replace the slowly dying futon in the basement, eyed tables and an entertainment center, and made out like teenagers in the aisles where you pick up your flat boxed goods. *cough* His idea, not mine. I’m pure I tell you!

We unloaded our goodies upon unsuspecting children and then darted out the door and had several drinks at one of the local watering holes. I kept saying, “okay, maybe just -one- more”, but you know how that goes.

On Sunday, one would think we’d rest like normal people. But, well, yeah, that whole normalcy thing isn’t working here. We plan a trip to Home Depot, only to be sidetracked by a nasty flat tire on my poor little Nerd Mobile. After inspecting the tire and realizing that tread is a distant memory for these poor things, it’s decided that replacements are in order. So it’s off to Costco to buy said replacements. Wherein I am informed that tires for my cheap dorky little Nerd Mobile are rather pricey. Oh, and did we mention not in stock? But we’ll happily order them for you and maybe have them by Friday.

We contemplated shopping for yard goodies at Costco, but the place was a zoo. Off we go to grab lunch and head to Home Depot.

“Say, I have a great idea,” says he ever so sarcastically as he eyes my overflowing cart of stuff, “Let’s take a car with a donut tire on it and WEIGH IT DOWN as much as we can with tools and mulch and gravel.” Nice smartass, just load the damn car.

Back home, I begin ripping weeds and poison ivy out of the front bed. I am so not letting him help after what happened last time he went tearing stuff out of the yard. I had guilt about that little fiasco for months! I did, however, gladly take him up on his offer to dig the holes for my new green friends. A little green (five well placed Hosta Queen Josephines), a little mulch, and presto, the front box is transformed!

In the back, more weeding, and nope, he’s not helping there either. Poison sumac awaits to attack him. I swear, it’s crazy the amount of itchy green crap I have growing around my place. Got everything torn out, lovely white marble gravel laid down, and for now the twitching at weeds is gone.

He did, however, scrub the patio and patio furniture while I pulled and yanked at weeds. Have I mentioned that a fucking million birds have descended upon our back yard turning it into one gigantic poop factory? No? Tetris heard on the news that only about half the birds had returned to Virginia this year. I think they all decided to nest on my roof.

After all that was done, I trotted upstairs to help Zach put his bed together. The absolute fun of hearing every fifteen minutes, “I don’t think you are doing it right,” is beyond compare. No, really. Thrilling.

*cough*

Finally, around ten last night, I soaked in the tub and relaxed. Today? Well, dummy me doesn’t like to be on her knees (Not. A. Single. Comment.) so I pulled weeds for two+ hours whilst squatting. Oh my frickin’ thighs. Wah!

Tonight? Put a chair together, finish cleaning up the family room (basically means getting ye olde futon out of the damn way), and then hitting the patio with a glass of wine. Or whine. Whichever.

Send cheese.
